The subject of the painting is a nude person reaching toward a swallowtail butterfly with the word love under it. The butterfly has both male (left, yellow wing) and female (right, black wing) characteristics- this butterfly became quite famous in 2021 at the Pingree Butterfly Haven. The nude person in the painting reaching toward the butterfly has golden and black hair, deep tan skin, and a thick golden and black bush but the canvas cuts off at the point where you may see their genitalia.
