[EDIT 1/13/2025—- my ko-fi has been re-listed and is up and running again! In the future I will be heavily censoring any NSFW works that I put on my ko-fi even though my page is already listed as NSFW/18+. Also with the news about meta, which is nothing new and the reason I was off of their platforms for many years, I will no longer be posting to instagram other than to announce upcoming events. Much love and much art to you all.]
[ORIGINAL POST BELOW]
Hello internet, it’s me, ya boy, protean art
I posted my 2024 art vs artist to ko-fi, which has in turn suspended my ko-fi because I posted “pornography” (see the middle left photo in the photo below). My page on ko-fi is tagged as NSFW/18+ and while they do explicitly forbid pornography, I do need to rise the questions: Who deems what is/n’t pornography? If you do not allow “pornography” on a site, why have an option to flag some accounts as NSFW/18+? If I state as an artist I do not want minors viewing my work and I flag my account as such, why am I further censored and pushed out of the community?
I have been told that if it is fine art it is not pornography. I have been told you’ll know if it’s pornography when you look at it. I have been told if it’s been in a gallery it is not pornography. I have been told if there is any nudity it is pornography. I have been told if there is pleasure depicted it is pornography. I have heard if there is only one person depicted it is not pornography.
Most of these statements (obviously) contradict one another.
I have so much to say on this, and will come back to add more. But I needed to get the note out now: you cannot purchase my artwork on any platform at this time. Email me (proteanart@proton.me) if you wanna purchase something. And keep an eye on my upcoming events page to see where I’ll be in the flesh next.
